2D side-scrolling action game with beans
Killer Bean Unleashed is free action game for mobile made by developer Killer Bean Studios. It is a 2D side-scroller that has players take control and follow the story of a former assassin who is out to dispatch his former associates now attempting to eliminate him by any means necessary.
Featuring fast-paced action and challenging combat like Grimvalor and Dead Cells, Killer Bean Unleashed offers an engaging experience to accompany its admittedly quirky and unique main character. There are even some platforming elements thrown in to make the gameplay more varied, complete with simple and intuitive controls.
Bean there
Killer Bean Unleashed follows the story of the titular character, Killer Bean, a former member of an elite agency of assassins. However, things go south when his former employer and associates try to eliminate him. The tables have turned, and the former killer is now on the hunt, looking to take out the organization as he faces waves of enemies across multiple locations.
Face an onslaught of assassins across 29 levels, from warehouses to scrapyards, and other locations. Each stage has a kill counter, indicating the number of targets to dispatch of. To help you on your rampage, you have an arsenal of unique guns that are able to fire out different kinds of shots. There are 12 Super Ammo to unlock and use in a variety of situations and enemies.
What's more, there are multiple bonus items that you can unlock that will grant all kinds of perks and special abilities like being able to triple jump. While the controls in Killer Bean Unleashed are simple and easy to learn, they are a bit limiting, especially with movement. You only have directional buttons for left and right, and a virtual joystick would have been better and more responsive.
Explosive action
All in all, Killer Bean Unleashed is a fun little title to try out if your games to be of the 2D side-scrolling variety. There are plenty of levels to tackle and some interesting ammo combinations to experiment with as you blast waves of enemies to bits together with your quirky bean assassin. The movement controls could be better, but that's about it.
